The star-shaped lake laid out in 1863 is the centre of Kodaikanal life — a five-kilometre walking and cycling loop around still water, with pedal boats and rowing boats for hire and horse rides along the bund. Almost every visit to the hill station begins here.
Tip: Hire a cycle early in the morning — the loop is quiet and the mist over the water is at its best.
