The artificial lake created in 1824 is the centre of town life — a long stretch of water with pedal and row boats, a miniature train along the bank and a busy promenade of stalls. Simple, and still the thing most visitors do first.
Tip: Weekday mornings are far quieter than weekend afternoons, when boat queues get long.
